IRTEC Braketech Licence We can prove the competency of our brake technicians through an independent body, the Institute of Road Transport Engineers Certificate. A definite first for the brake service industry! 20 Braketech technicians are now holders of an IRTEC Licence applicable to the service of commercial vehicle brakes. The licence tests the safety and current competence of technicians and mechanics working on the repair and maintenance of commercial vehicle brakes. |
Current modules are as follows:
Module 1: Brake Shoe Relining
Module 2: Brake Shoe Profiling
Module 3: Brake Drum & Rotor Machining
These modules cover every possibility in the process. They include 4 written papers. Due to rapidly changing technology in braking, candidates are re-assessed every 3 years. Other planned modules are as follows:
Module 4: Caliper Maintenance
Module 5: ABS/EBS Diagnostics
